A day in the life of a dog

If your dog could talk, how would they describe a typical day? Dogs are generally pretty good at adapting to various living conditions, whether in a household of one person or a large family or even one with other animals. How well they adapt relies on a wide variety of factors, and not all dogs have the same ability to adapt to change quickly.

For some dogs, even a small change is stressful and can lead to what we might describe as 'behavioural challenges'. For others, they seem able to adapt and accept that things don't happen in set routines or patterns. Why is this? Just like us, dogs are a mixture of genetics and experiences; it has long been acknowledged that the best way to describe this is nature via nurture, given that they cannot be looked at in isolation. How your dog copes with change or how well they'll 'bounce back' is more complex than their upbringing or current living situation. Just like us, if we have lived a quiet life, having a busier spell or moving to a noisier area would take some getting used to.

Dogs need time to adjust or to gradually grow accustomed to novelty.Consider how much novelty they experience in their life, can you add a little at a time to slowly build their confidence?
